Partnership Spotlight: AmplifyChange
Amplifying the Voices of Refugee Adolescent Girls and Young Women Through the generous support of AmplifyChange, MOYOTE implemented the Voices4Marginalized Project. This initiative advanced the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of refugee adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) living in Nairobi. The project addressed the barriers refugee AGYW face in accessing quality SRHR services while strengthening their leadership, amplifying their voices, and promoting their meaningful participation in policy and decision-making processes. Recognizing that refugee AGYW are often excluded from health planning, the project worked to influence policies, strengthen health systems, and ensure that no one is left behind. AmplifyChange actively supports civil society organizations globally to advocate for improved policy and action on neglected SRHR issues, organizational strengthening, and movement solidarity.
What We Did
The project focused on:
Advocating for the development of a refugee-inclusive Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Strategy and policy framework for Nairobi County.
Improving access to comprehensive, youth-friendly, non-discriminatory SRHR information, referrals, psychosocial support, and healthcare services for refugee AGYW.
Building the leadership, advocacy, and policy engagement skills of refugee adolescent girls and young women to enable them to claim their rights.
Strengthening political commitment towards the inclusion of refugees in county health plans, budgets, and programmes.
Facilitating dialogue between refugee communities, government institutions, healthcare providers, civil society organizations, and development partners to promote equitable and inclusive health systems.
Developing evidence-based policy briefs and advocacy materials informed by the lived experiences of refugee AGYW.
Creating community and digital advocacy platforms that amplified refugee voices and promoted bodily autonomy, gender equality, and universal access to SRHR services.
Supporting marginalized groups, including women, refugees, and people with disabilities, to ensure their rights are protected and their voices are heard through legal aid and advocacy.

Lasting Impact The Voices4Marginalized Project transformed refugee adolescent girls and young women from marginalized beneficiaries into confident leaders, advocates, and rights-holders. By improving access to quality SRHR services, strengthening refugee-inclusive policies, and creating opportunities for meaningful participation in decision-making, the project contributed to more responsive, equitable, and inclusive health systems. Today, refugee adolescent girls and young women continue to participate in policy dialogue, advocate for their rights, and influence programmes that affect their health and wellbeing. The partnership also strengthened MOYOTE’s institutional capacity, expanded strategic partnerships, and established sustainable platforms that continue to amplify refugee voices and promote inclusive development long after the project’s completion.
